A Suprising Scheme!

Having gone Sofa shopping with a friend a few weeks ago, I fell in love with a green velvet sofa in 'sofaworks' of all places. I don't know whether you have been sofa shopping lately but, there is a plethora of ugly/boring sofa's out there.
I loved the mid century/ vintage feel of this sofa, if you ignore the stripey cushions it is a beaut!
This got me to thinking if I was to go for such a colour sofa, what kind of colour palette sits well with green?
I came across this image on Pinterest and was struck by the purple tones! Anyone who knows me will know, purple is one of my least favourite colours. However when I started researching greens with purples and pinks. I came across some stunning schemes.

The acid tones of the greens sit so well.

The different textures with the green, purple and pink hues are so pretty. Love the floral accents too.

I am definitely  hoping to bring this colour scheme somewhere into my new house. What do you think, are you a fan of the greens & purples?

Miss Wong & a tour round my living room.

Today I thought I would give you a tour around my living room, I ended up primarily with a blue scheme purely because it was the only nice sofa I could find with a Mid- Century feel.
I find  blue can feel quite cold so, I decided to add some olive green tones with the
Sanderson swallow canvas which I made. I also found the perfect ceiling shade at Dunhelm!

I was also extremely lucky to find 'Miss Wong' at a local antique shop, she manages to bring all the colours of the room together.
I had alot of vintage orange glass from the 60 ' s & 70's and my 60's rocket lamp which work perfectly just to add a few accents of orange throughout.

When I try to describe the colours involved in my living room, I think people find it hard to imagine them going together. Just having a few splashes of orange really helps to warm up the room. Hope you enjoyed the little tour :-) Any interior questions be lovely to hear from you.

Opulent Interiors ( a little look around Chatsworth)

Today I was fortunate to have a little gander around Chatsworth House, it is a little pricey but worth it to have a look around the house & gardens. It is truly beautiful. If you are interested in interiors it is a fabulous opportunity to see such splendour and opulence.
I took around 80 photos  whilst I was there today. Thought I would post a few of my favourites here;
What's not to love with these amazing chandeliers, true statement pieces, if only I had a room big enough.
Every room needs a focal point & a mirror is always a good way to reflect light & space whilst adding interest. It is a great way of showing off a room  by taking the photo in the mirror.
Talking of focal points check out this fabulous fireplace with plenty  of  vases.
I really liked the sugary pink of this vase, you would need some serious flowers to fill this bad boy!

No doubt I have mentioned before my love of Wallpaper,  there were some beautiful examples of bird wallpaper at Chatsworth.

If you get chance it is definitely worth a visit :-)

A Weekend of Wallpaper!

This weekend has been full of Wallpaper! I have been decorating my mum's living room for her as she is trying to get me to do all her diy before we get the new house. It must be at least 5 years since I have done any wallpapering, as much as it is a challenge, I love it, the results are so instant.
If you have never tried wallpapering I do urge you to have a go,  alot of it is just practice and patience.

I have been ordering a load of Wallpaper samples over the Internet recently, ready for the move. I am trying to plan quite a bit of the decor so I am ready to start as soon as we get in. There a quite a few sites where you can order free samples, usually upto 3, wallpaper direct is particularly good.

There are so many wonderful wallpapers out there, I particularly like large scale prints. I have been pinning a board of 'splendid wallpapers' over on pinterest. I have found some beauty's, especially by a company called Timorous Beasties.

Here are some of my favourites

Beautiful papers by Timorous Beasties, these are quite pricey though!

Some of my other favourite papers at the moment, what do you think?

Spring has Sprung!

So for my blog today I thought rather than have a theme as such to chat about. I would just post a few little snapshots of some items around my home. In my last blog I was talking about my addiction to ceramic vases, as you can see in the photo above there is a nice little group of 3! Looking very spring- like with the daffodils.
Still waiting for  my Easter Cactus to flower, I picked the Swan vase up at an antique shop for £5 recently. It had a lot of peeling paint so, I scrubbed it off! Although I have noticed recently Asda  home selling something similar,  and a lamp which is really rather cute!
This is the Asda lamp which is only £15, I am seriously tempted to purchase, they also do an ornament, very similar for £8. What's not to love!
I talked before about my love for coloured glass, the red vintage vase and apothecary bottle I have had for many years. I so would love to collect alot of apothecary bottles they are so beautiful.

Some more of my coloured glass collection.
Please feel free to comment on my blog, would be great to have some feedback.

A slight addiction to vases!

I don't know when or how it started but I seem to have an addiction to vases! Whilst they are handy obviously as vessels for flowers (if you can find the right height, width etc) which seems to be a perennial problem regardless of how many vases you actually have. They are just simply fabulous as decorative objects. I have long been obsessed by coloured glass vases but relatively recently I have began to collect ceramic patterned vases.
They look so powerful when grouped together and make a real statement in any room.

These images are from pinterest, you don't need to have as many as these but as a rule of thumb always group objects in odd numbers. The vases are West German vintage, I particularly love the white ones.
In this image I have simply grouped together three vases 2 modern and 1 vintage.

For the love of Orange.

Orange has been one of my favourite interior colours for a very very long time. I believe it is hugely underrated. I guess a lot of people think orange, think 70's! However that is precisely why I love it, I remember my aunts house when I was growing up, with all the bright colours inspired by the 50 's, 60 's & 70's. Too many people are scared of colour and live in a haze of magnolia. You sometimes only have to use colour in small amounts to get dramatic results, you don't even have to put it on the walls. Why not try a few key cushions and ornaments!
I have created a pinterest board for the love of orange, check it out here; www.pinterest.com/mojojomo14/for-the-love-of-orange/

Here are a few of my favourite 'orange' images from the board, you can clearly see it's very 1970's inspired, but just by using a few key colour pieces together you get a really defined look.
Here are a few of my treasured ornaments;
